In possibly one of the most unfortunate stories of texting and driving, a man in Wenzhou plummeted his RMB1.37 million Lexus sedan into a lake after taking his eyes off the road to search for his missing phone.

After dropping his phone while driving, the desperate texter accidently slammed on the brakes as he searched for his phone on the floor of his car. With his eyes off the road, he swerved off through trees and into the water.

The man immediately climbed out of the window and managed to save himself. He then stood on the roof waiting for help. Bypassers noticed him calling for help and saved him with a bamboo raft. The men were apparently extremely saddened by the fact that the luxury car was forever ruined.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after and instructed that the car had to be removed with a crane. As the crane hauled the Lexus out of the lake, Sina reported that large waterfalls were pouring out of the windows.

It is also yet to be ruled an accident, as the authorities were suspicious of whether or not the driver wanted to receive compensation. In addition, it's hard to believe that the driver was that desperate to find his phone that he plunged his Lexus into a lake.

It is unclear whether or not the man managed to save his phone.
