It’s no secret that everything Korean is pretty darn popular in China. Some are even willing to get glaucoma for their precious K-Dramas.
But this might just be a new high. Or.... low.
Lu Han, a Chinese former member of the K-Pop supergroup EXO, stopped by Shanghai lately for work, and while strolling along the Bund decided to take a selfie with a mailbox. He then published said selfie to social media.
And, the very next night, here are the results of this momentous photograph:
Yes, hundreds of his fans flocked to the hallowed relic and lined up, until as late as 3am, to touch the mailbox which their idol had not only graced with his attention, but also touched with his hand.
The hordes of fans have given the mailbox a "web celebrity" status on social media. And guess what? Shanghai Post decided to cash in on the hype. The mailbox is now covered with a mysterious red cloth, sparking public guesses of what is underneath.
According to the official Weibo account of Shanghai Post, the mailbox will have a different look on April 20. And tomorrow, 7,777 limited edition commemorative postcards with special postmarks will go on sale for RMB5 apiece.
