Hotel Guest in Chongqing Finds RMB10,000 Under Pillow

Last month, a man and his family were in for a big surprise when they spent the weekend at a Chongqing hotel. As the family prepared to check out, the father, Lu Gang, did one last inspection around the room to see if they’d forgotten anything. Upon lifting up a pillow, Lu found a small plastic bag containing a huge wad of cash, which was later confirmed to be RMB10,000 (USD1,543).

But instead of celebrating his find, Lu complained that the hotel must have not cleaned his room properly. The prospect of having slept in dirty linens prompted Lu to contact hotel management. He later spoke to the press about his concerns for the room's cleaniless. Rather than bringing light to the lucrative find, he instead called the hotel out for unreplaced pillowcases and bedding.

Lu evenutally handed to cash over to police, who were initially skeptical about the incident. While he didn’t stick around for the investigation, netizens nonetheless praised him for turning in the cash.

As for the identity of the money’s owner? That still remains a mystery.
