Swedish superstar stiker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be offered a salary to match his ego, with the Chinese government trying to lure him to the Super League with a massive RMB550 million a year deal, according to reports coming out of Italy.

Italian news source La Repubblica have reported that the figure would see the 34-year-old paid three-times the salary of Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi.

Ibrahimovic is out of contract with French club Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season, and has said: "If they replace the Eiffel Tower with a statue of me, then I will stay."

That looks unlikely to happen.

He has also been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal and Manchester United trying to woo him. David Beckham is also after him, with reports suggesting he is considering hooking up with the Old Trafford legend's Major League Soccer franchise in Miami in 2017.

If that is the case, he is expected to join another club prior to that mooted move. Could he decide to cash in big time in China?

President Xi Jinping is reportedly behind the idea. There is no official word yet on which CSL club he would be joining, but the Chinese whispers are saying Beijing Guoan.
