When it comes to parenting, things are changing fast here in Beijing. It was announced on Thursday that parents in Beijing now have the right to take longer maternity and paternity leaves, The Shanghai Daily reports.
This regulation comes in the wake of China’s two-child policy, which went into effect last year. Mothers are now allowed to take a minimum of 128 days more leave – 30 more days than before. This new policy applies to both first and second children. Depending on the company they work for, mothers may be able to take up to seven months of leave, maximum. Fathers can now take 15 days paternity leave.
The new regulation also states that remarried parents who have one child each from a previous marriage can now have another child.
