A taxi cab spontaneously combusted yesterday morning near Daning Lingshi Park in Shanghai, according to Xinmin.

In an interview with the newspaper, the taxi driver, surnamed Song, said that she pulled over to the side of the road after her dashboard suddenly turned on while she deposited a fare. Shortly after that, smoke billowed out of the gears and engine hood. Song got out of the cab before the fire broke out and was not injured. Firefighters arrived to the scene to quell the flames, but the car was charred badly from the fire. The accident held up traffic for over half an hour.

Dazhong Leasing, the company which owned the cab, said that electric wiring problems were suspected to have caused the fire and that they were still investigating the accident.
