Heartthrob Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited the Toronto Zoo this week to meet Canada’s first giant pandas.
At a ceremony on Monday, the zoo announced the names of the cubs: Jia Panpan, meaning 'Canadian Hope,' and Jia Yueyue, which translates to 'Canadian Joy.'
The names were chosen through an online poll. A special committee at the zoo chose a list of names and the public voted for their favorites online.
At the ceremony Trudeau was joined by Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne.
The cubs have been held in a special maternity section since their birth in October. At 100 days old, they are considered to have survived infancy.
They are the children of Er Shun and Da Mao, two Chinese pandas who were brought to Canada in 2013.
