Hello, is it Xi you're looking for? Well then you're in luck, because Xi Jinping may just call you, maybe. The People's Daily yesterday released a mini-app which lets you "answer" a phone call from Xi Jinping himself (we recommend opening the link up on your phone for the proper phone call effect).

Xi Jinping Phone Call

We know when that hotline bling, that can only mean one thing (that Xi wants to give you a New Year's greeting and also maybe spread some Communist Party cheer). When you answer Xi's call, this is what you'll hear in a 15-second pre-recorded message:

Hello everyone! Before the arrival of the Chinese people's traditional holiday of Lantern Festival, I would like to extend a holiday greeting to you all. Best wishes for health, success and happiness!

Along with the call feature, the app also allows you to browse through photos from Xi Jinping's visit to the People's Daily headquarters, where he recorded the message yesterday. Xi also visited the newsrooms of Xinhua and CCTV as part of a "research tour." During his tour, he even took a moment to sit in front of the camera for Xinwen Lianbao.
