The death toll from the horrific Shenzhen landslide climbed to 58 this week, after workers pulled dozens of bodies from the rubble on Wednesday, according to local authorities.

The local government said authorities have identified 52 of the 58 bodies and that a further 25 individuals remain missing.

The landslide, which occurred on December 20, was the result of heavy rains weakening a mountain of construction waste, which then crashed its way through Hengtaiyu industrial park, according to Xinhua. The tragedy destroyed 33 buildings and hospitalized 17 people, ten of which have been discharged.

Authorities have charged 11 people with negligently causing a serious accident and, on December 27, a senior official involved in the landslide jumped to his death from a residential building. The tragedy also led to a public apology from senior officials.
