A bus fire in Yinchuan, Ningxia Province that broke out on Monday, which killed 17 people and injured 32, is now suspected to be the result of an arson attack

At around 7.00 am the bus broke out in flames, trapping daily commuters inside. The main suspect, a man named Ma Yongping, reportedly threatened to kill himself, according to CCTV. He has now been arrested by Yinchuan police on suspicion of arson.

This isn't the first case of an arson attack on Chinese public transportation. There have been two other major cases of bus fires believed to have been started deliberately in recent years. Back in 2013, an arson attack in Xiamen claimed the lives of 48 people, while another incident in 2014 in Hangzhou injured more than 30.
