Tuesday marked the official opening of this year's International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival in Harbin, which runs until the end of next month. The theme this year of 'Bright Pearl of the Crown of Ice and Snow' took over 10,000 workers sculpting round the clock in subzero temperatures to build some of the world's largest ice sculptures. Despite the city averaging temperatures ranging from minus 13 to minus 23 Celsius in January, the festival is expected to draw in millions of visitors in the coming weeks, according to the AFP.
CNN reports that the park for the legendary festival, which is now in its 32nd year, covers more than 750,000 square meters. The structures required 330,000 cubic meters of snow and ice to create.
