Hong Kong bar manager attacks customer with knife for staying after closing

Anyone who has a history of hanging out with friends in bars late at night sipping beers and cocktails has, on at least one occasion, left the establishment after the official closing time. Well, next time you're out late, you'd be wise to heed the last call or you could end up like a Russian customer – identified only as Alexander – with your ear and your finger badly slashed by a 10-inch fruit knife.

The incident happened early Monday morning in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, just outside a bar located on Yiu Wa Street, Apple Daily reports. The bar's official closing time was 3am, but by 5am, Alexander and two companions were still drinking at their table.

When a waiter asked them to settle up and leave, the three individuals refused, much to the annoyance of Au, the 28-year-old bar manager. In the ensuing altercation between the recalcitrant customers and the increasingly irritated manager, Au pulled out the fruit knife and slashed Alexander's left ear and finger.

Realizing he may have picked a fight with wrong person, the Russian attempted to flee from Au's rage by hiding under a van. The bar manager didn't quit, however – he ran after Alexander, shouting at him to get out from under the van and stabbing the vehicle on several occasions.

Au was reportedly arrested while Alexander was taken to a hospital. Moral of the story: don't f*ck with bar managers leave on time!
