Expect to see heavier traffic in Beijing during morning and evening peak times between today, Monday, February 6-Friday, February 10, as students return to school and many others return to work following the Chinese New Year holiday.

That’s according to information issued on February 4 by the Beijing Transport Operations and Coordination Center (TOCC).

TOCC warns that journeys on Beijing’s roads during peak times will take between 8-8.5 times longer than during non-peak hours. Friday evening is expected to be one of the busiest times.

Morning and evening peak times in Beijing tend to be around 7-9am and 5-8pm, respectively.

Furthermore, the numbers of commuters on public transport is also expected to return to normal during working days this week. So, if you plan on taking buses or the Beijing Subway, you may want to leave a little earlier, particularly during peak hours.

Make sure to stay safe and plan your journeys in advance.
