Expect More Traffic in These Parts of Beijing

As Beijing’s “autumn tourism” season is in full swing, traffic is expected to be heavier in certain parts of the capital. 

That’s according to a notice issued by Beijing’s City Traffic Management Department which was released on October 14. 

Here’s what you need to know if you’re out on the road. 

Heavy Weekend Traffic Expected Around the Following Scenic Spots 

  • Badaling

  • Gubei W-Town

  • Pofengling Scenic Area

  • Laba Valley (Laba Goumen)

  • Miaofeng Mountain 

  • Baiwang Mountain

  • Jinhai Lake

In particular, the north section of the Jing-Cheng (京承) Expressway, the Jing-Zang (京藏) Expressway and Jingxin (京新) Expressway will see heavy traffic going out of Beijing in the morning.

The following scenic spots are also expected to see heavier traffic on nearby roads: 

  • National Botanical Gardens

  • Temple of Heaven 

  • Beihai Park 

  • Beijing International Flower Port

  • Beijing World Flower Wonderland Park 

  • Beijing Expo Park 

The Following Road is Closed at the Following Times

Nanxin Cun Jie (南辛村街) in Xiangshan (Haidian district) is closed to all traffic in an east-to-west direction from the intersection with Xiangshan Nan Lu (香山南路) to the junction with Hongfeng Lu (红枫路); the closure is in force between 7am-7pm on the following weekends:

  • October 22-23

  • October 29-30

  • November 5-6

  • November 12-13

Heavy Weekday Morning Traffic Expected on the Following Roads This Week (October 18-21) 

  • Second, Third and Fourth Ring Roads

  • East, West and North sections of Fifth Ring Road

  • East section of Sixth Ring Road 

In the direction away from Beijing city center:

  • Caihu Ying Nan Lu (菜户营南路)

  • Jianwai Da Jie (建外大街)

  • Jianguo Lu (建国路)

  • Chang’an Jie (长安街)

  • Qiansan Men Da Jie (前三门大街)

  • Tonghui Hebei Lu (通惠河北路)

  • Xizhimen Beida Jie (西直门北大街)

  • Wanquan He Lu (万泉河路)

  • Lianshidong Lu (莲石东路)  

In the direction towards Beijing city center:

  • Jing-Zang (京藏) Expressway

  • Jing-Cheng (京承) Expressway 

  • Jingtong (京通) Expressway 

  • Jing-Gang’ao (京港澳) Expressway 

  • Jichang (机场) Expressway 

Expect peak traffic during the morning to be from 7.30-9am. 

Heavy Weekday Evening Traffic Expected on the Following Roads This Week (October 18-21) 

  • East, West, and North sections of Second, Third and Fourth Ring Roads

  • East, West and North sections of Fifth Ring Road

  • East section of Sixth Ring Road 

In the direction away from Beijing city center:

  • Jianwai Da Jie (建外大街)

  • Tonghuihe Bei Lu (通惠河北路)

  • Lianshi Dong Lu (莲石东路)

  • Jing-Zang (京藏) Expressway 

  • Jing-Cheng (京承) Expressway 

  • Jingtong (京通) Expressway 

  • Jing-Gang’ao (京港澳) Expressway 

  • Jichang (机场) Expressway 

Expect peak traffic during the evening to be from 5.30-8pm.
