An announcement from the Beijing Subway stated that operating hours on Line 1 and Line 2 will be extended as of Friday, July 23.
The changes apply to the Friday and Saturday schedules only. See below for full details:
Line 1 (Gucheng to Sihuidong) – extended by 61 minutes
Line 1 (Sihuidong to Gucheng) – extended by 64 minutes
Line 2 (Jishuitan-Dongzhimen-Fuxingmen-Xizhimen) – extended by 81 minutes
Line 2 (Xizhimen-Fuxingmen-Dongzhimen-Jishuitan) – extended by 94 minutes
The extension is good news for those staying out late on a Friday or Saturday night.
Line 2 is a ring line which passes through key Beijing transport hubs, including Beijing Railway Station, Beijing North Station and Dongzhimen Transport Hub.
Meanwhile, Line 1 runs east to west and passes through Tiananmen Square, shopping district Wangfujing and Guomao in the heart of the Beijing CBD.
It was revealed recently that Line 1 will be integrated with the Batong Line and will run directly to the soon-to-be-opened Universal Beijing Resort.

Construction work is ongoing to extend the Beijing Subway network in order to better connect surrounding suburbs with Beijing city center.
