Yet another Beijing subway line is expected to open by the end of 2021… at least in part!
The south section of line 17 is expected to be open by the end of this year. The most southerly station will be Yizhuang Zhan Qianqu Nan Station (亦庄站前区南站).
The south section will pass through seven stations including interchange stations Ciqu (次渠) (interchange with Yizhuang line) and Shilihe (十里河) (interchange with line 10 and line 14).
The new line is expected to help ease passenger flow on line 5 and the east part of line 10.

Once the whole line is finished, other stations along the route will include Gongren Tiyuchang station (工人体育场站) (Workers’ Stadium), located nearby many popular bars and clubs; Wangjingxi (望京西), nearby Wangjing SOHO; and Future Science City north and south stations (未来科技城北 and 未来科技城南) in Changping district.
Beijing residents will likely have to wait well beyond 2021 for the entirety of line 17 to open. Nonetheless, the latest news marks another positive step in the expansion of public transport in the capital.
