MLB China Celebrates Opening Day with Traditional Ballpark Foods

The MLB season that baseball fans have been waiting for is finally here!

On July 24, MLB China officially announced the return of the 2020 Major League Baseball season during a special ceremony. In honor of the first game, fans had the chance to indulge in a variety of traditional MLB dishes courtesy of MLB China. 

Baseball stadiums in the US are not only for players and fans. While fans go to watch the game, they also go to sample all of the great food. That’s why MLB China brought the baseball teams’ most famous ballpark creations to the event for the first time, giving guests a special tour of traditional baseball foods so fans could savor the taste of baseball while enjoying the game.

Speaking of food, it's hard not to marvel at the culinary landscape of MLB stadiums, where fans eat hot dogs, sip drinks and enjoy the game. The origins and popularity of hot dogs are closely related to baseball, and MLB typically sells nearly 20 million hot dogs a season. 

One of the most famous mascots in MLB, Phanatic of the Philadelphia Phillies, is handing out hot dogs to fans.

During the opening ceremony of the 2020 season, MLB China shared a taste of MLB baseball food culture. Guests not only enjoyed the game but they sampled all sorts of American baseball staples: Oakland Athletics Brisket Nachos,New York Mets Bases Loaded Dog, Milwaukee Brewers Curveball Frites and more. These signature MLB stadium dishes were featured on the on-site special menu for the occasion.

Oakland Athletics: Brisket Nachos

The perfect combination of golden crispy chips loaded with cheese, spicy beef and jalapeños and doused in a special sauce. 

New York Mets: Bases Loaded Dog

A spin on this MLB classic, the Bases Loaded Dog features pork, beef and a hint of vanilla and is topped with onions and drizzled with chili sauce. The smokey flavor of the hot dog makes it a fan favorite.   

Los Angeles Angels: Kung Pao Chicken Drumstick 

Tender and juicy and packed with flavor this is a tasty and aromatic fusion dish popular at Angel's stadium.  

Milwaukee Brewers: Curveball Frites

A unique and indulgent take on traditional Frites has made this a legendary ballpark food in the US. 

Kansas City Royals: BBQ Burger

The smoked barbecue patty is and brushed with a delicious savory sauce. Be sure you’re hungry because this BBQ burger is massive.

Toronto Blue Jays: Jane Dough Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Crispy, crunchy and delicious, you won’t be able to resist having a second and third helping of this addictive sweet treat.
