Mifan or Mafan: Ginger

By That's Beijing, March 13, 2019

Helmed by the owners of Sanlitun Soho’s dive bar-institution Red Dog, Ginger plans to be even weirder and – if you can imagine it – divier. Where Red Dog has a print of a nude woman with the face of Mona Lisa, Ginger has an actual mannequin dressed in full drag with a lurid-green wig driving a second-hand sanlunche. Elsewhere, a recycled bunk bed makes for some kooky additional seating.

While it might scare away the more conservative clientele, Ginger is refreshingly casual and, tucked away in a corner of an apartment block, almost acts as a refuge from the invasion of the fancy lounge bars around it. Drinks (all around RMB50!), with a special section dedicated to ginger-based cocktails, make for a very affordable night out (for Sanlitun, at least).
