The Vending Machine

The Vending Machine is the latest buzzed-about spot in town, and with good reason. While unassuming from the street, its glass door slides open to reveal... Well, very special vending machines.

Rive Gauche

It’s clear this French bistro located inside the Puxuan Hotel and Spa doesn’t stick to classic recipes. They’re more about updating old favorites with some fresh twists. Go for the food and enjoy the tasty experimental dishes whipped up from the innovative mind of chef Ivan Miguez.

Emotion House

Located right behind the rambunctious Heaven Supermarket location on Xindong Lu in Sanlitun, the lounge bar is essentially a reverse mullet: party in the front, all business in the back.

Schrödinger's Box

Ah, it was all fun and games before the great brickings of 2017. Remember when you could have cheap booze anywhere on Sanlitun’s notorious Dirty Bar Street or up and down the Dongcheng hutongs? At that time, Toy Box was the speakeasy bar of choice for sinners with some taste. Now re-branded as Schrödinger's Box, its speakeasy style is gone, but some of the original touches have survived.

Yes really – another Big Small cafe. (Man, those guys must be doing something right.) The third-wave coffee heroes have opened their fourth shop in a rather unexpected location: right off of Beiluoguxiang. (Wait… are places actually – dare we say it – migrating to Gulou?!).

Chan Kong Kei

It was 2016 when the world’s first street food stall earned a Michelin star in the Singapore edition of the world’s premiere food guide. As a result, many modest eateries that received even just a mention in the guide were propelled to stardom. Macau's Chan Kong Kei is one of those.

Helmed by the owners of Sanlitun Soho’s dive bar-institution Red Dog, Ginger plans to be even weirder and – if you can imagine it – divier.

Much to our surprise, Panda Brew is multiplying in the city. The Beixinqiao brewery has recently opened another location in the busy CBD.
