The end of the year always feels a bit sentimental. Whether it was the best of times or the worst of times, they all seemed to fly by. Since I first arrived this past March, a lot has happened in Beijing.
In this month's cover story, 2018: China's Year in Review, we take a look back at this year's most significant moments. The lows were really low. From Didi scandals (man, they really couldn't catch a break this year) to more closures of some of our favorite hangouts in the city (R.I.P. Great Leap #12 – we're still not over that one), there were some rough times, no doubt. But the highs were pretty high. This year brought us some decent music festivals (well, the ones that weren't cancelled) and things we never asked for, like robot-run hotpot restaurants.
Speaking of restaurants, our That's Beijing Food & Drink Awards will be taking place on December 4 at Blue Note, where we'll be celebrating the city's tastiest spots. Stay tuned for the full list of winners.
