Jan 22-26: Amazing Australia @ Kerry’s Kitchen

It's Australia Day this Friday, which means there are quite a few Aussie events going on around town this week. If you've got a craving from some Australian food, head over to Kerry's Kitchen. They'll be putting together an impressive spread for lunch and dinner all week long. Expect fresh seafood and prime cuts of meat, as well as some of the finest Aussie wines.

Mon-Fri Jan 22-26; Kerry's Kitchen, see event listing.

Jan 25: MO

Dai Jian is a dancer and visual artist who creates graceful movements. He is inspired by everyday moments and gestures, relying on senses as well as his own training and experiences. Dai’s free-flowing and organic style is a wonder to behold.

Thu Jan 25, 7.30pm; RMB120-240; Multi-functional Theatre of NCPA, 2 Xi Chang’an Jie, Xicheng 西城区西长安街2号 (tickets via sales@theatrebeijing.com)

Jan 27: Great Wall Spur

Who says you can't hike the Great Wall in January? If you're willing to brave the cold, this hike will take you to a wild section of the wall, which was completed in 1580 AD. The hike will be slightly challenging but the views are sure to be worth it.

Sat Jan 27, 8am departure; RMB400 (RMB360 for members); Beijing Hikers (email info@beijinghikers.com)

Jan 28: Australia Day BBQ @ EAST

EAST is hosting a meat-filled, family-friendly BBQ on Sunday, in honor of Australia Day. Tickets include free-flow beer, wine and soft drinks, as well as an all-you-can-eat buffet. There will also be a bunch of activities planned to keep the little ones entertained.

Sun Jan 28, 11am-4pm; Member prices are RMB250 (adults), RMB200 (kids); Non-member prices are RMB300 (adults), RMB250 (kids). EAST Hotel, see event listing

Through Feb 9: Instant true love

A solo exhibition by Qingdao-native Han Yajuan, ‘Instant true love’ presents the artist’s works from the past three years. Oil paintings and other pieces will be shown – 13 in all. Yajuan’s fanciful compositions are rich in color and character. Each piece depicts a scene that appears almost puzzle-like, with its detail and oscillating points of view. An overwhelming feature of the artist’s work is its optimism. Art to enjoy.

Through Feb 9, Tue-Sun, 10am-6pm; Amy Li Gallery.
