The DRiNK Magazine Bar Awards 2017 took place at the newly opened W Shanghai — The Bund on November 19. Presented by DRiNK Magazine and Thirsty Works Productions, the night was a glamorous affair with some seriously high quality production values.
The ceremony featured a home-style Chinese dinner, while guests enjoyed drinks at the cocktail reception and ceremony from The American Bar in London, Boxing Cat, Chivas, Monkey 47, Perrier and Nespresso. There was also an Awards Bar run by Zdenek Kastanek, Daniel An and the Taste Bud team, as well as "DRiNK Vending Machines" which featured cocktails created by Erik Lorincz, Yao Lu, Cross Yu, Atsushi Suzuki, Carson Xie and Eddy Yang. Chengdu-raised rapper Bohan Phoenix dropped some sick beats for the evening.
Big winners of the night were Suzuki & Co. at Sober Company and Speak Low, who collectively picked up four awards...
The Nest and Union Trading Company, who built on their hauls from last year...
And Beijing favorites TRB, Janes + Hooch and Great Leap Brewing, who earned some of the capital's first ever DMBA victories.
Meanwhile, Singapore triumphed in the voting for two new regional crowns — Asia Bartender of the Year was Vijay Mudaliar from Native, while Asia Bar of the Year went to the gin specialists at Atlas.
