Everyone wants a slice of China’s cake. Not mooncakes – honestly, most laowai find those kinda gross. I’m talking about the money – those sweet, sweet RMBs. Which is why last month, I was invited to test out Little Creatures, the latest craft beer brand making its way into the Mainland.
Originally from the Western Australian port city of Fremantle, Little Creatures make ultra-sessionable craft brews that are tasty enough for a seasoned beer fan and not too hoppy for a beginner. Expect to see them everywhere, starting this month.
In other news, new menus keep a comin’! And me, ya girl, keeps on eatin’. Last month, I padded my expanding waistline with an out-of-this-world new menu at Sureño, by absolute genius Chef Talib Hudda. Get the monkfish if you go (but also get everything else).
Meanwhile my colleague, who, like, works out and stuff, tried TRIBE’s new menu – she recommends their matcha pancakes. Moka Bros also recently unveiled a slew of new dishes, most importantly, poke bowls, the hottest thing to burst onto the scene since chefs realized they could make big ol’ bowls of uncooked food popular. (Seriously though, they're good.)
Finally, we're excited to break an exclusive bar news scoop – The Distillery is on its way back. Having closed in spring due to hutong ‘renovations,’ the team behind The D have been hard at work on a bigger, bolder space just down the lane. Details thus far are scant – but we’ve been told to expect outdoor seating and exciting new changes to the bar’s offerings.
