Shanghai isn't the only city suffering from a crazy heatwave this week — much of Eastern China is also currently experiencing scorching hot temperatures.
According to the Washington Post, a big chunk of China is currently trapped in a "Heat Dome," which can best be described as a "large ridge of high pressure." Don't believe us? Just check out this map:
The heat dome will likely continue to hold in place for much of the week.

China's Central Meteorological Observatory has issued a yellow typhoon warning
Subway and bus routes have been shut down in parts of Beijing.
Fujian, as well as parts of Guangdong and Zhejiang in South China, have been worst affected by the typhoon.
This year has so far seen 28 high-temperature days in Beijing. The heat will subside somewhat over the next 24 hours.
A flight attendant and a passenger on the Air China flight were reportedly "thrown to the ceiling" of the plane.
No let up in the heat for now.
Beijing and other parts of North China have recently been caught in the midst of a heatwave.
Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and Inner Mongolia have all experienced sandstorms.
