Jun 16: Benjamin Francis Leftwich 

British singer-songwriter Benjamin Francis Leftwich has garnered acclaim for his tender, timeless music and melancholic lyrics. His 2011 debut album, Last Smoke Before the Snowstorm, was a huge success, selling 100,000 copies worldwide. The single 'Shine' went on to be named Spotify's most addictive track of 2014. Now back with his latest album, After the Rain, Leftwich's world tour will bring him to China in mid-June, where he'll stop off at Mao Livehouse on Friday night.

Jun 16: Peter Bernstein Monk Trio

Jazz guitarist Peter Bernstein has been on the jazz scene since the 1980s. Since then the New York native has played a role in over 80 recordings and performed at countless festivals and shows around the world. In his recent album Monk, Bernstein collaborates with Doug Weiss and Bill Stewart to create their own take on the iconic Thelonious Monk.

Jun 18: Punk Rock Father's Day

School is having a Punk Rock Father's Day event on Sunday. Ambulance of Love, Russian Roulette, Duff Beer and Little Wang will be performing. Don’t’ worry, this one’s not only for dads, but it is one of the many fun things for dads to do this Father’s Day!

Jun 18: Fête de la Musique Opening Party

Fête de la Musique is getting started early on Sunday with a huge outdoor bash at 77 Theater. There will be tons of food and drinks courtesy of Arrow Factory, Baozza, Cheers, Crêpanini and Caravan. And of course, there will be some great bands. Marseille-based King Krab will be performing songs off their EP All In. Quebec jazz band Mademoiselle et son Orchestre and Beijing-based Britpop-inspired band The Twenties will also perform. On June 21 a bunch of French bands will be invading venues across Beijing for the annual Fête de la Musique. Stay tuned for next week's gig guide for the details.

Jun 20: Animal Charity Concert @ Yugong Yishan

Yugong Yishan is putting together a charity show for Beijing’s stray animals. At this time every year a bunch of bands gather to perform in order to raise funds to help improve TAC's animal shelters and pay for medical expenses for the capital's down-and-out animals. This time around Sparrow, Mr. Miss, Song Dong Wild, Big Fly, Wave Band, Rotating Bowling and Liangxiao Xue will perform.
