Remember when we first reported on Beijing’s incredible new airport? In case you need a refresher Beijing-Daxing International Airport is going to be huge and will handle 100 million passengers every year. It’s also going to house a full train station and a bullet train.
While construction began on the airport back in 2014, workers finally broke ground on the Beijing-Bazhou high-speed rail line on Sunday, Shanghai Daily reports.
The new line will connect Beijing and Bazhou and will stop off at the new airport along the way. Bazhou is not only located 80 km to the south (in Hebei), but it’s also right next to Xiongan New Area, the region slated to become the new Shenzhen.

The high-speed train will travel up to 350 km/h and will be completed in 2019, roughly at the same time as the airport.
Because the Beijing-Daxing International Airport will have an underground train station, passengers will be able to easily travel between the capital and the airport.
The new line is also a major component of the Beijing-Kowloon route, which will run between Beijing and Hong Kong. This route is also expected to be completed by 2019.
