A Beijing man is suing Ofo over injuries he sustained from what he claims were faulty brakes, China Daily reports.
The 31-year-old, surnamed Feng, rented one of Ofo’s popular shared bicycles around 9pm on January 28 near the Communication University of China subway station. However, he only made it 100 meters before he fell off the bike and broke six teeth, fractured his nose and suffered cuts to his face. Feng claims that the brakes were faulty and directly caused the accident.
Feng is asking for RMB20,000 (USD2,900) to pay for his medical bills and to be compensated for the time he's had to take off work and the mental anguish he's suffered. This is believed to be the first lawsuit of its kind in China.
His case has been formally accepted by Beijing Chaoyang District People's Court and is currently under investigation.
