The first Line 16 metro train was unveiled at a ceremony in Beijing on August 22. The train boasts eight cars and has the largest capacity of any metro in the capital, Railway Gazette reports.

Test runs between Beianhe and Xiyuan (the northern portion of Line 16) are set to begin sometime this year. Passenger service on the new line is expected to commence in 2017.

Once the line is fully operational it will cover 50 kilometers and have 29 stations between the areas of Beianhe and Wanping.

It is estimated that 80,000 passengers will use Line 16 each day.
