Beijing’s first-ever International Premium Beer Festival is just around the corner and we can hardly contain ourselves! HOPS is hosting the three-day festival, which will be held at the stunning MGM Beach (formerly Uper+) from July 1-3. To top it off, some of Beijing’s best musicians, DJs, entertainers and dancers will be scheduled to perform throughout the event.
This isn't just any beer festival. There will be a mind-boggling 80 types of premium global beers – from Belgium, Italy, Germany, England and more – to knock back on and enjoy during the event. There will be so much beer! And, of course, there will also be plenty of mouthwatering international foods on offer to pair with your beers. Savoury or sweet, mild or spicy, you’re bound to find the perfect pairing for your beer from the vendors.
Here is Part I of our sneak peek at the food and beer vendors that will be making an appearance at the festival (for Part II, click here):
Brewers:
Delirium
It’s not uncommon to hear beer drinkers say that Delirium Tremens Pale Ale is the ‘best’ beer. With its subtle citrus-spice flavor, it’s no wonder why. And lucky for us it will be flowing throughout the festival.
Omer
Omer will be bringing a whole lot of their Traditional Blond to the party. The top fermented beer is brewed according to an original recipe and it tastes pretty damn good.
Rochefort
The Belgian brewery is famed for its three Trappist beers. These beers are hearty and strong and they pair perfectly with strong cheeses and grilled meats.
Antoniana
The brewers over at Italy-based Antoniana are bringing their light blond Scudata, their antique gold Vienna and their golden Altinate to the party.
Westmalle
The monks of Westmalle have been brewing their own beer for over 200 years. Their small-scale brewery is located inside the walls of Trappist abbey. The brewery itself might be small but the flavor of their beers is big. The dark ale is rich, herby and fruity. While their Tripel Ale has a fruity taste and hoppy scent.
Chimay
Authentic Belgian beer with character, Chimay Red was the first beer brewed by the Trappist Monks of Chimay.
Hacker-Pschorr
The Bavarian brew master is all about tradition. They brew their beer according to the ‘Beer Purity Law’ which means there’s nothing used accept barley, hops and water.
Piraat
Piraat dates back to the 17th century. And even then these ales were highly sought after. Piraat is known for its well-rounded body and rich hoppy flavor.
Gulden Draak
Gulden Draak Triple and Gulden Draak BrewMasters Edition 2015 will both be making an appearance at the festival. These Belgian boys both pack a punch with 10.5 percent ABV.
Hoegaarden
First brewed in 1445, it is a naturally refreshing taste experience. Hoegaarden is perfect for warm summer days, and it's especially perfect for hot Beijing summer days.
KVB
KVB will be pouring their Premium white beers, providing a couple more light and refreshing options for a hot summer day.
1830
The flavors of 1830 are complex. Their Brown beer has notes of coffee and woodiness. The Blond has a refreshing taste and pairs well with most meals. And the Amber is a beer with a malty, caramelized character.
Palm
Palm Amber is going to be flowing at the fest. It’s a Belgian session beer, it’s super tasty and it has a low ABV in case you’re getting a little too tipsy.
Steenbrugge
Steenbrugge Wit-Blanche Get is an authentic Belgian white beer, which means it has a light and refreshing taste. Those with a refined palate will detect hints of coriander and curacao.
Estaminet
Estaminet is bringing the original taste of a true Belgian Pilsner right here to Beijing. And for that, we’re grateful.
Baladin
This Italy-based brewery was founded back in 1996 in the quant village of Piozzo. They’re now making their way to Beijing and they're bringing a whole slew of different beers with them. Think hoppy and spiced goodness.
Food:
Fly Pizza
Fly's pizzas are hand-made, straight-out-of-the-oven pies that are only prepared the freshest quality ingredients. They go pretty damn well with beer too.
Jay Mexican Burrito
What’s a beer festival without Mexican food? Jay’s stuffed burritos and tasty tacos pair perfectly with spiced beers.
Billy’s Fish & Chips
All you Brits are going to feel right at home at this beer fest. Not only will plenty of British beers be flowing but Billy’s Fish & Chips will be there to give you a true taste of home.
