Celebrate the Golden Week national holiday this October with a pint of our new, suitably hued strong golden ale, brewed with a hint of Sichuan spice.
This new beer is a Belgian-style strong golden ale, but, as the name suggests, we have added a twist in the form of three special ingredients sourced from Sichuan: honey, dried mandarin orange peel, and Sichuan peppercorns.
The Beersmith Brewmasters started with a base of Belgian yeast and fresh malt before adding Sichuan peppercorns and three-year-aged dried mandarin orange peel, giving the beer a complex aroma and a hint of that famous numbing sensation from Sichuan pepper.
At the end of the fermentation process, the brewers mixed in a large amount of citrus honey from the mountains of Sichuan, adding a sweet honey scent to the finished beer and pushing the ABV all the way up to 7.8%.
The finished product is a warming, spicy beer with a not-so-subtle kick of booze, perfect for cooler days.
