The Beersmith brewery team have created plenty of innovative IPAs of our own over the years, and our latest beer is no different.
This time, we decided to use unique Cryo Hops — the Sabro and Mosaic varieties, to be exact — from Washington-based growers Yakima Chief Hops. The hops are processed in super-low temperature, nitrogen-rich environment that separates them into two components: lupulin and bract (the leaves that make up the outer part of the flower). The resulting concentrated lupulin pellets have higher doses of alpha acids and essential oils, which allow brewers to create beers with intense hop flavour and aroma but no accidental astringent or grassy flavours.
The result? Our brand-new West Coast Cryo IPA, a crisp, amber-coloured beer with long and strong hop aromas, rich notes of tropical fruit and coconut, and a clean and refreshing bitterness.
