In ancient Sumerian culture, the women of the house were always the brewers – carefully crafting ale and distributing it amongst villagers. In fact, the oldest recipe for beer ever discovered was a ‘Hymn to Ninkasi’, the goddess of brewing.
To celebrate International Women’s Day back in March, and the long history of women involved in beer-making, Beersmith’s female leaders (Milly, Virginia and Michelle) worked together to develop their own special brew. Together, they created She Gua. Light, crisp, and with layers of fruitiness, this blonde ale launches on April 20, meant to celebrate the women at Beersmith who help spread the word of craft beer every day.
New Beer — She Gua
She Gua combines the team’s favourite elements in beer – fresh fruit character, low bitterness and a captivating colour. From picking ingredients to perfecting the final flavour profile, these three led the charge.
First, they selected a rice blonde ale base with gentle hopping from El Dorado and Huell Melon.
