Both famous and influential worldwide for their vibrant club scenes and experimental music pioneers, the party worlds of Beijing and Berlin are ready to meet and join forces for ten days at Zhao Dai.

They partnered with the Goethe Institut and with the Berlin-based DJ collectives '://about blank' and 'Spoon for Women, Trans and Non-Binary People,' a DJ Workspace for practical training with turntables dedicated to people from these three categories, in order to create a series of events to reflect on club culture... and seriously, for once.

Brought to you under the auspices of Goethe-Institut Beijing, "Is It Loud Enough?" will feature talks about the history of nightclubs in Berlin and Beijing, what collectives mean in club contexts and what role feminism and gender play in club culture. Other events will also focus on the influence of design, art and architecture on the scene.

The program is complemented by DJ workshops and by the screening of the 2017 documentary "If I think of Germany at night," by Romuald Karmakar, which portrays the story of 5 leading Techno DJs and how they and the scene in Germany have evolved over a decade.

Check out their schedule here, and choose the talks you are more interested in. Since 'Spoon' aims at providing a safe space for underrepresented minorities, only women, trans and non-binary people can participate to the DJ workshops. You can choose the one that best fits for your level of experience.
