Aug 4-7: ICMA 2019 Conference 

The 2019 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation (ICMA 2019) will take place in the luxurious Tianjin Shangri-La Hotel. Join researchers, educators and many more industry experts as they disseminate their latest research results in a number of fields including mechatronics, robotics and sensors.

Aug 9: VOCES8

Created by former Westminster choristers, the British choral group VOCES8 performs works varying from Renaissance polyphony to contemporary jazz and pop arrangements. For one night only, the brilliant vocal ensemble will perform at Tianjin Grand Theatre.

Aug 13: Asian Youth Ochestra 

The hundred-member Youth Orchestra is decided through a rigorous decision process. Members come from an array of backgrounds including the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea. Every summer, the orchestra comes together for six weeks. For the first three weeks, they will be in a rehearsal camp. Post-training camp, they will embark on a grand musical tour to theaters across the country and around the world.

Aug 29: Central Ballet Summer Festival Closing Performance

Led by director Feng Ying, the Central Ballet, the esteemed national ballet troupe of China established in December 1959, takes over Tianjin Grand Theater for one more special performance this month to close out their summer season. Don’t miss their final show, as they perform dazzling repertoires to composers like Tchaikovsky.

Happy Hour @ Lao Dao Brewing 

Lao Dao Brewing has some exciting things, well, brewing. They’ve debuted a few of their own beers like the Xinjiang Ginger Wheat and the sweet and sour Holding Tight Pomegranate Wheat. Get to the brewery for their daily happy hour from Monday to Friday.

The Beatles: Beat On

In 1960 in Liverpool, England, a band was formed that would go on to be the most influential band in music history – The Beatles, of course. It’s time to come together, join the party and ‘Beat On’ with The Fab Four at an exhibition showcasing the band’s glorious time and history. Wander through themed spaces, stare at artwork and photographs from the band’s history and let it be with a soundtrack of their classic hits.

TWG Afternoon Tea @ The St. Regis Tianjin 

The St. Regis Tianjin combines a local recipe with the creation of a dessert master to create an afternoon tea experience like no other. Experience the unique flavors of Tianjin, as the pastry team combines the region’s delicacies, such as the chestnut and fried dough twist, with a number of summer-inspired flavors for a fancy afternoon set by the stunning Haihe River.
