We Tried Coffee-Flavored Coca-Cola and So Should You

'We Try It' is a regular series where we try the latest off-beat food and beverage offerings.

In recent news of strange combinations we never asked for: Get your sugar rush and coffee buzz in one go with this coffee-flavored Coca-Cola. No joke.

When we first spot this curious caffeinated concoction (labeled in Vietnamese), we can only hope it’s Vietnamese coffee – though after some careful sleuthing (aka Google translate), we’re shocked and upset to find out that ‘thêm cà phê’ just means ‘more coffee.’

Also, upon further inspection, we read that it’s technically not even supposed to be exported outside of Vietnam. But we’re glad it was because the fizzy fusion of 30-percent caffeine and sugary cola is… well, it’s pretty damn good, we’re not gonna lie.

From first sip, it’s classic Coke – but less bubbly – with a pleasant coffee aftertaste, and a sweet scent that lingers all the while. A few indulgent gulps and we’re wondering why we haven’t been adding soda to our morning cups of coffee all along (OK, probably an overstatement). Sure, our heart rates might be racing at slightly alarming levels now, but we can’t deny – it’s a solid dose of artificial fuel for those ungodly hours of the morning or super late nights.
