May 15: Jason Mraz

Multiple Grammy Award winning artist Jason Mraz is bringing his Good Vibes Tour to Shanghai. The exclusive one-night only concert will take place at Mercedes-Benz Arena on May 15. Tickets are now on sale. You can snag yours right here. The Virginia-native came onto the scene in the early-2000s and quickly became known for his soulful folk-pop. Throughout his career, Mraz has earned numerous platinum certifications for his various releases, made pop history with his record-breaking singles, ‘I’m Yours’ and ‘I Won’t Give Up,’ won two Grammy Awards, received the prestigious Songwriter Hall of Fame Hal David Award, and sold out amphitheaters and arenas across the globe. He’s also become known for his positive message, upbeat tunes and humorous live shows. The tour follows the release of Mraz’s sixth studio album Know back in August. It’s now his fifth consecutive studio album to debut in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200.

May 17: Daya

Ultra-popular American singer and songwriter Daya is all set to perform in Shanghai on May 17 at VAS Livehouse. Daya – which means ‘compassion’ in Sanskrit – started playing the piano at age 3. By the time she was 11, she was proficient in piano, guitar, the sax and even the ukulele. She released her first album Sit Still, Look Pretty in 2016 and it’s been uphill from there. In 2017, her smash hit 'Don't Let Me Down' won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording. Daya’s Shanghai show is bound to be popular, so you might want to snag your tickets ASAP.

May 18-19: Sound of Spring
It’s that time of year again where Urban Family and That’s Shanghai will take over Green City in Jinqiao for our annual Sound of Spring festival. This year’s event will be held on the weekend of May 18-19, and will be packed with all sorts of activities from music to luxury camping.

May 23-24: Sophie Zelmani

Sophie Zelmani is a singer and songwriter who hails from Sweden. Her style is mostly described as folk-pop music but her melodic sound is truly one-of-a-kind. With her gentle voice she sings about everything from life and love. You can check her out right here in Shanghai as part of her Sunrise Tour at Modern Sky Lab on May 23-24. Her career started over 22 years ago with her self-entitled debut album, which quickly became ultra-popular in Sweden and the Far East. Since then she's released 10 albums, including her most recent release My Song in 2017. Like every artist, Sophie's music has evolved throughout the years, but she always stayed true to her roots. Her sound is still simple; it's all about Sophie singing with the same magical quality as she did in 1995.

May 24: Der Elefantenpups - Ein Tierischer Geheimplan
If you're looking for a fun, interactive and kid-friendly event, you're in luck! The music-filled Der Elefantenpups - Ein Tierischer Geheimplan will be held at ET Space on May 24-25. This time around, a new animal joins the zoo: a young female panda named Mei Yue. Being in a new place means she's suffering from homesickness and would do anything to be able to return home to China. The zoo animals work together and hatch a secret plan to cheer up Mei Yue. They make music for her with their instruments. In the end, the panda cub is able to happily settle into her new home with her new friends. Throughout the journey, kids can learn about various musical instruments and their unique timbres through a fun and sweet story. Your little ones are sure to love it!

May 26: Emma the Snail
If you're looking for something fun to do with your little ones, this might just be the perfect event. It's a touching, bilingual German-English tale of a snail named Emma who wants nothing more than to find a new home. Unhappy with her current broken home, she starts a long and adventurous journey for a perfect replacement. She is finally able to find the perfect home in the most unlikely place. It's fun for the whole family.
