Tropical Storm Ampil Threatens to Hit Shanghai This Weekend

There’s yet another tropical storm brewing over the Pacific Ocean and it could very well hit Shanghai Sunday night or early Monday morning, AccuWeather reports. The storm is expected to strengthen into a Category 1 typhoon before making landfall on Japan’s Ryukyu Islands on Saturday. Ampil is then expected to veer northwest toward China’s east coast. As of now, Shanghai is in the storm's direct path.

Any areas in Ampil’s direct path should expect strong winds and heavy rain, as well as potentially damaging flooding. 

It’s still too early to tell whether or not Ampil will hit Shanghai. Just last week, Typhoon Maria was expected to make a direct collision with Shanghai. However, the storm changed course and hit southern China instead.

Either way, rain is in the forecast on Sunday and Monday for Shanghai, according to The Weather Channel:
