March 8: Ladies on Top at Hemingway Lounge & Terrace
It's International Women's Day this Thursday, and Hemingway is throwing a special "Ladies on Top" party to celebrate. DJ Koroma will be spinning tunes live starting from 9pm and male dancers will be putting the moves on in a special show. Spring cocktails will be on offer starting from RMB25, while wine and sparkling bottles are available from RMB128. This multimedia concert features songs from Studio Ghibli animated classics, including the Oscar-winning Spirited Away. One for slightly older kids as it starts at 7.30, but definitely worth staying up past their bedtime for!

March 10: Notes from Northland Concert by SZSO at Suzhou Culture & Arts Center
Conducted by Julian Kovatchev, an award-winning musician who has worked with various orchestras throughout Europe over the past three decades and now serving as the music director and conductor-in-residence of Daegu Symphony Orchestra in Korea, the SZSO will serenade the audience with music from Russian composers like Mussorgsky, Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich.

March 11: Suzhou Jinji Lake International Half Marathon
The ninth annual Suzhou Jinji Lake International Marathon takes place on March 11. The 21km race course will take runners around Jinji Lake, and both the start and finish lines are at Moon Harbor. Registration to participate is now closed, but you can still head over to the race course to cheer on the thousands of runners this Sunday! Click here for the race route.

March 11: Hack Hanzi at Locke Pub
Want to learn Chinese? Suzhou-based teacher Lydia Nordlien will be holding a 'Hack Hanzi' crashcourse to help you get started or prepare for the HSK. Participate in both the crashcourse and workshops (held later this month) for the complete version, or just take part in the crashcourse to learn what Hanzi is about and how easy it can be. Both the crashcourse and workshop will have plenty of interaction, exercises and other activities and entry fee includes drinks. Note that workshop attendees are required to have previously attended the crashcourse. Hacking Hanzi is suitable for any language level, including beginners and advanced speakers.

Hailed as 'opera's coolest soprano' by the New York Times, Australian-American singer Danielle de Niese will be performing with the Lucerne Festival Strings — one of the leading European chamber orchestras — to bring a selection of classical masterpieces and Broadway hits to the audience.
