As the most popular music festival in China, the Strawberry Music Festival, founded in 2009, has become an influential rock event around the country, attracting throngs of young people every year.

Organized by Modern Sky, a big record label based in Beijing, the Strawberry Festival takes place in Shanghai, Wuhan, Xi'an, Zhenjiang, the capital and – drum roll – Shenzhen! Arguably China’s top music festival, this year's line-up has a diverse mix of rock, Chinese pop and some folk, plus an electronic stage with local and international acts.

The festival’s theme this year is “SNS life is rubbish, get a real life” – in other words, put down that phone and get out into the world for some great live performances! In aid of this theme, the organizers have set up special social zones that encourage personal interaction. In the words of the ever-wise Madonna: “Music makes the people come together, yeah.”
