With nearly 2,000 years of history, hot pot is a simple creation that’s a favorite among locals and expats alike, especially on those cold and dark winter nights.
Unlike other places where the hygiene of dipping shared chopsticks is questionable and raises the specter of communicable diseases if the soup’s not boiled, Faigo Hot Pot provides an environment that is cozy – if a little subdued – and comfortable, where each diner has his or her own individual pot – rendered golden for a touch of class - and
sauces.
Patrons can choose from 12 different soups (RMB12-32), spicy or light, ensuring that all tastes are catered for. The offerings include a wide variety of main dishes such as clams (RMB9/ piece), shrimps (RMB25-38), oysters (RMB9/piece), miniabalone (RMB19/piece) and crab (RMB78). Meat is of course well represented, with prime beef ranging from RMB35-299 and lamb going for RMB39-49. Vegetables include watercress (RMB15), cabbage (RMB9), spinach (RMB12), bamboo (RMB18) and mushrooms (RMB12-36) for the essential fiber. Patrons can complement these with noodles of the udon and vermicelli varieties, dry tofu, mini hotdogs and quail eggs. A new venture, freshness is one thing on which Faigo prides itself.
Hot pot isn’t all that complicated; add what you want to the boiling soup, and it’s done in a few seconds. Then, give the sauces a go. Vegetable oil provides the fuel, not recycled gutter oil we're pleased to report, and this oil is apparently better for the environment and safer.
Faigo is a place for hot pot fans who want to go traditional, like their individual servings and have a ton of stomach to fill.
