On September 3, 2024, Cathay Pacific officially launched its 'Chinese Cultural Education Program' in Shenzhen, an initiative guided by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and organized by the airline to enhance new flight attendants’ understanding of Chinese culture, enabling them to provide better service to mainland passengers.
This program is a collaborative effort between Cathay Pacific and the Civil Aviation Flight University of China (CAFUC), whose expert team will deliver the training.
Bolstered by a strategic agreement signed in June between Swire Group and the Shenzhen municipal government, the program highlights the airline’s commitment to nurturing a service team proficient in both international service standards and Chinese cultural knowledge.
At the launch event, Zou Liuhai from the CAAC’s Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Office praised Cathay Pacific for leveraging its “unique advantage of being proudly part of China” and its efforts to collaborate with Chinese mainland civil aviation in talent development.
Zou expressed hope that Cathay Pacific would continue to capitalize on its multicultural strengths, fostering deeper cooperation with CAFUC.
CAFUC President Guan Lixin emphasized the significance of this partnership, noting that the program not only promotes youth development and talent cultivation but also showcases the unique role civil aviation schools and enterprises play in preserving and spreading Chinese culture.
Cathay Pacific’s General Manager of Inflight Service Delivery, Vincent Yu, reiterated the airline’s role as an international carrier rooted in Hong Kong with strong connections to the Chinese mainland and emphasized that the cultural education program would help new flight attendants appreciate Chinese culture, further aligning with Cathay Pacific’s goal to become one of the world’s best service brands.
