In celebration of Black History Month, Global Affairs Canada has teamed up with the US Department of State and the National Hockey League (NHL) to jointly launch a global screening of the acclaimed documentary Willie. Willie O’Ree is a Canadian who was the first black player in the NHL. The screening will be subtitled in Mandarin and available free online this week (until February 26) to those who register by scanning the QR code on the poster. During the week, there will also be online panel discussions with Willie O’Ree and Blake Bolden, the first black woman to play in the National Women’s Hockey League and current scout for the LA Kings.

Time to start the Year of the Ox with some serious laughter. This is the first Shenzhen Improv Jam of 2021. There will be three Shenzhen Improv teams that will bring you a night of fun and games. Creating scenes and stories based on your suggestions the improvisers will make sure this will be an unforgettable night. The three teams are the Couch Potatoes (Shenzhen’s newest troupe), ZIP (the short-form vets) and Domesticated Humans a long-form group.

Sat-Sun, Feb 27-28: Afrodance Workshop
AfroDance is a combination of movements and steps from the many great countries across Africa. The workshop will be taught by Saddie, a dance teacher and artist based in Guangzhou, originally from Rwanda. You’ll learn the foundation and basic techniques in Afro, more than 10 of the latest and most classic Afrodance steps, plus two choreographies.
