AN’TEM is an event celebrating the Caribbean’s unique heritage, and is committed to showcasing multicultural identity to Shenzhen. Enjoy a night filled with music, dance, food, door prizes and fun. On the turntables, House DJ Aaron in synergy with Black Baethoven will be playing your favorite hits from calypso, extempo, kompa, soca, dancehall, reggae, hip hop, to country fusion.

Fri-Sat, Oct 16-17: Lavo Music Festival

The first Lavo Music Festival is on this weekend at both Shenzhen Bay and Futian locations of Lavo. Over 100 artists will perform live on five stages, over the course of the festival which will run two consecutive weekends. Expect jazz, funk, soul, blues, fusion, disco, house and more. Captivating is a Hong Kong-registered charity that works in partnerships with grassroots Chinese charities in remote locations of China to help disadvantaged and impoverished children reach out for a better tomorrow. This year’s theme is ‘Rise Up and Move Mountains.’

The waste items in this exhibition are all domestic trash (sterilized, of course) and items collected in Shenzhen over the past five months. Due to COVID-19, foreign artists couldn’t come to Shenzhen, so they sent their creation plans online and instructed exhibition staff to help prepare the artwork.

The Book Exchange Library is back. Come browse books, meet people and exchange ideas. As per usual, you are welcome to drop by anytime and do a quick book run or you can spend some time reading, chatting and all that fun stuff. The Book Exchange is Shenzhen’s biggest expat library, with around 800 English volumes and 200 Chinese/foreign language ones. During events, their collection is opened up for checkouts, returns and discussions.
