Shenzhen’s Biggest Craft Beer Fest Lineup is Out Now!

The 5th Electric City Shenzhen Craft Beer Fest is just around the corner! 

Bionic Brew is thrilled to announce the full lineup for this year’s craft beer bonanza. This year, the list of badass breweries has been increased for an even broader selection of beers covering: Mongolia, Guiyang, Henan, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and more. Many of the finest breweries from around China will be here for one weekend only at Electric City craft beer fest, which starts next Friday, November 8 and ends next Sunday, November 10. From day one they have been on a mission to promote the craft beer culture in Shenzhen as well as in South China.

Bravo Brewing

Bravo Brewing Company was founded in Guangzhou in August 2016. Bravo makes world-class ales and lagers that challenge how people think about beer. Founder Wayne Shen and Co-Founder/Head Brewer Rocky Wang established the microbrewery, which is widely recognized in Guangzhou. Their experience in North America encouraged them to share an appreciation for craft beer and bring it to Guangzhou all while creating uniquely Chinese beers. At Bravo, beers are made from some of the finest malts, hops and yeast, which are specially treated and filtered. Together they are culminated into classic German lagers, European ales, and American hoppy ales. They are excited and honored to be part of the revolution for locally brewed craft beer that has started to gain momentum in China. Brew in China, bravo in heart!

Craft Head Brewing Co started in 2014 when founders Nicholas Clark and wife Penny Peng both decided to leave the corporate world and turn a hobby into a profession. They are crazy about crafting anything that ferments and continually release new experimental styles of beer, cider, mead and spirits – proudly using both local and imported ingredients. They can’t wait to share some of their favorites with you at the Shenzhen Craft Brew Festival!

Devils Brewery is a craft beer brewery based in Wuhan, China. Best described as an “American craft brewery with Chinese characteristics,” Devils aims to deliver a unique experience to its customers by blending classic American craft brews with a Chinese twist – promising an enjoyable surprise with every glass.

Founded in 2013, No.18 Brewing & Co. is one of the earliest craft breweries in China. With standardized management, they have grown from a small pub (No.18 brewpub) into a leading craft brewery in China. Their chief brewer, Jiang Qi, was the first Chinese to win a gold medal in the International Beer Cup (IBC). He is also a BJCP-certified judge. Their craft beers such as TiaoDongWho IPA (brewed to commemorate the youth activities in Wuhan) and FilmG Milk Stout (the first domestic beer with nitrogen gas in China), have been widely loved by beer enthusiasts. From the beginning, their goal has been to let more Chinese people experience the charm of craft beer, and they have maintained an unwavering commitment to unique brewing. While beverage giants are duplicating the formula one after another, they firmly stick to the pioneering spirit of rivers and lakes flowing in their blood.

E.T. Brewery

Taking its name from the two Chinese founders, Erique and Terry, E.T. was founded in 2016 and has developed into one of the leading breweries in Shenzhen, growing from a brewpub to a full-fledged production brewery. Their beer names often take on extra-terrestrial inspiration, from Angry Alien, a classic Double IPA, to more experimental brews like Anywhere Door, a black sour IPA. 

Half Ton Brewery

Half Ton Brewery was founded in 2016 by Ma Jingxuan and brewer Jiang Lei who are committed to creating ‘Shenzhen local craft beer.’ In the most recent CCBA beer competition, Half Ton won two gold medals despite their first time entering the competition. Half Ton is not only about beers, but also the Half Ton people’s attitude towards beers.

Founded in Beijing by long-time friends Kris and Alex, 京A is a brewery in constant motion. They’re obsessed with hunting down rare ingredients and unexpected flavors to brew their beers, ranging from twists on classic styles, to curious experiments and inspiring collaborations with breweries from around the world. Their goal is to make beer they’re damn proud of – beer that pushes the envelope, celebrates its roots, and changes perceptions of Chinese brewing worldwide.

Liberty Brewing Co. opened its doors in 2016 during the Year of the Monkey – becoming Dongguan’s first fully established brewpub. Their mantra is to keep things as fresh as possible using the highest quality ingredients for both their dishes as well as their beer which is brewed directly onsite.

Lion Cat Brewery

Yantai Tongxin Winery, is a modern enterprise specializing in the production of wine and craft beer. The concept of the Lion Cat brand of beer comes from Linqing’s national animal, the lion cat, which means to be wild and gentle, passionate and creative. Lion Cat craft beer carefully brewed by the Lion Cat team are innovated, unique and bring an exquisite experience to beer lovers. Lion Cat craft beer received the national SC certification and came to the market in August 2015. Enjoy varied and fresh styles of Lion Cat beer.

Maha Nine Brewing

Maha Nine Brewing was established in 2015, the words ‘Da Jiu’ are taken from the two tablets of the mountain gate of the Da Zhao temple in Hohhot. In 2018, Maha Nine Brewing was officially put into operation, marking the first step in the commercial brewing. As the first craft brewery in Hohhot to obtain legal production qualification, they focus on the essence of beer and local brewing. They continously strive to spread the culture of craft beer, so that they can craft beer can take hold in Hohhot, eventually redefining the standard of homegrown craft beer.

Founded in March 2008, Master Gao Brewing Co is the first craft brewery in China. The brewery is headed up by the master himself, Gao Yan, who has been hailed by many as one of the founding fathers of China’s fast-growing craft beer scene. The Nanjing-based brewery also owns brands such as Master Gao, Oktoberfest, Baby IPA, Mad Ting and more.

MiMi Beer

Craft MiMi Beer is brewed in Hong Kong under the brand, Honey Panda’s Greetings (HPG). Ms. Liz is the founder of HPG and creator of Panda MiMi. Mr. Tomy Fong is a craft beer master and also an international beer judge. Liz and Tomy both have a huge passion for craft beer and decided to partner up to create Craft MiMi Beer in 2016. Liz takes care of the creative aspect and marketing while Tomy focuses on creating the unique recipes. 

Mingri Brewing

Part of the newest wave of microbreweries launching across China, Mingri Brewing was established in 2017 by homebrewers in Shanghai. The company’s goal is to combine traditional commercial brewing with the innovative spirit of home brewing. They constantly launch new beers full of character from their 10-barrel brewing system.

Myth Monkey Beer

Founded in 2015, Myth Monkey Beer is an independent brewery specializing in barreled craft draft beer. They have a SC production license and an autonomous brewing plant located in Wuhu, Anhui. The cooperative merchants are now based in East China and cover the whole country. Their draft beer products such as Orange 14 Wheat, TAOLUIPA and Latte Stout are supported and loved by many who appreciate craft suds.

NBeer Craft Brewing

NBeer Craft Brewing, established 2013 in Beijing, is one of the first natively-owned-and-brewed craft beer brands in China. To this day, they remain a leader of China’s craft beer movement, gaining a dedicated following among the nation’s craft beer fanatics. NBeer’s diverse and innovative brews have broadly influenced craft and premium beer venues across the nation. As one of the few Chinese craft brands with fully-licensed production facilities of their own, they have set their sights abroad, obtaining as many as 30 medals this year, making NBeer one of the most awarded craft breweries in the Chinese mainland!

Ping Dynasty Cider is made from 100% Fuji red apples. Each sip is crisp and fresh, with hints of pear and toffee apple. The flavor profile has been developed especially for the Chinese palette, while respecting the texture of traditional European cider. Trip Smith Brewery

Tripsmith was established in 2013 by a brewer named TwoGan who is a local enthusiast of craft beer. In just six years, Tripsmith has grown from a small pub on a old backstreet of Guiyang’s old town to a popular local brewery, which now has  800 tons of annual production with more than 20 different high-quality beers. Tripsmith has successfully marketed its beers to more than 300 beer stores, bars and restaurants across China. It runs three bars, one beer store and has a production line of canned beers with a steady capacity. It has now become one of the most popular brewing brands within China.


Wild West Brewing

Established in 2016 in Qionglai-Chengdu, Wild West Brewing utilizes the best local and imported ingredients, bringing to the people of Sichuan and Greater China the highest quality of fresh, local, independent craft beer. The co-founders are a husband and wife team named Scott and Carol Hunt. Scott hails from Utah in the wild west of the US, and Carol is from Sichuan in China’s wild west. At WildWest, they combine disciplined Western brewing methods with local flavors to create both top quality traditional and specialty beer styles. Their beers are clean and well balanced with unique flavor profiles that appeal to the masses.
