Set to coincide with our 14th annual Food and Drink Awards, The Golden Forks: A Greater Bay Area Dining Guide 2019 will organize restaurants based on our new ‘Golden Fork’ rating system, which assesses F&B establishments based on their service, ambiance, interior design, originality, food quality, food presentation, cleanliness, sustainability, drink options and drink quality.
Restaurants and bars will be awarded between one and five Golden Forks based on their performance, as decided by our undercover team of foodies. Additionally, the winners of our Readers’ Choice Awards in our Food and Drink Awards 2019 will be assessed and assigned a Golden Fork rating. As such, you have a direct say in which establishments will be profiled in this guide – so please be sure to visit our voting sites! (Click here to vote for bars and restaurants in Guangzhou, and here for Shenzhen.)
Curious what each fork rating means? Don’t worry, we have the full breakdown below:
World-class dining experience: A luxurious setting complete with extraordinary food and/or alcoholic beverages options.
Renowned fine-dining experience: A classy setting with top-quality food and/or alcoholic beverage options.
City favorite: A comfortable and casual environment with great food and a range of beverage options.
Great food, great price: A casual environment with tasty food options and alcoholic beverages available – all at a reasonable price point.
Drinker’s paradise: Casual environment with a menu focused mainly on alcoholic beverages, with snacks available.
