Finally, a long weekend to unwind and feast on some moon cakes! 

If you’re staying in the city, be sure to take a moment to gaze up at the moon on Saturday, September 14 around midnight, which will be when the moon is brightest. Some great places for moongazing are Lianhuashan Park, Shenzhen Bay Park, Sea World, Coastal City, Window of the World and Shenzhen University. 

Here are some fun activities happening in the city: 

Make Moon Cakes

Willow is hosting a moon cake cooking class, which will now be on it’s third year! Come celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival and learn how to make these delicious traditional treats.

Mid-Autumn Festival Party

At this Mid-Autumn Festival party you will get a chance to participate in diverse Chinese traditions, such as riddle guessing, Chinese calligraphy and Han Chinese clothing cosplay! If you want to meet new friends and learn more about rich, Chinese culture, this party will be an awesome experience for you! Guests will also receive some cool party favors.

Civic Center Light Show

From September 13-15, you can catch three shows every night at 7.30pm, 8.30pm and 9.30pm. Some of the best places for viewing are from Shenzhen Children’s Palace entrance, Shenzhen Civic Center, Lotus Peak, Yitian Road and Jintian Road.

Nanshan Talent Park Light Show

If you’re over in Nanshan you can also catch nightly light shows from September 13-15, at 7.30pm, 8.30pm and 9.30pm. The best viewing areas are Talent Park, Starlight Bridge, Sanssou Square and Houhai Bridge. Each light show lasts around 10-15 minutes and is divided into five themes: Ecological Nanshan, Happy Nanshan, Humanities Nanshan, Technology Nanshan and Blessing the Motherland.

Mid-Autumn Festival: Layla Khepri

There will be a special performance by hip hop American recording artist Layla Khepri on September 13 at Terrace. She’s toured around the US and Canada, sharing stages with Drake, Future, 2 Chainz, Yo Gotti and more. Her high energy live performance and rapid delivery will be sure to impress. Drink specials on the night include 50% off on the second bottle of Makers Mark Whisky.
