Anti-terrorism maneuvers, joint air and sea patrols and riot-suppression exercises were held as part of the operation, which kicked off in Shenzhen’s Bao’an district at 10.30am.
When speaking about the drills, which involved four days of preparation, Deputy Head Chen Bin of the Shenzhen Public Security Bureau’s security and patrol unit stated that ensuring public security and social order is very important for both Guangdong province and China at large.
“Shenzhen plays an important role in the country’s reform and opening up,” said Chen, according to China Daily. “The city is also adjacent to Hong Kong. Therefore, it is highly important to maintain Shenzhen’s social order and public security.”
