That’s Shenzhen takes a look at the best live music shows this weekend.
Thu, Jul 11: Amazing Show @ B10

Amazing Show are unique in the Taiwan music scene for making their own instruments, with which they compose, perform and record their music. Their 2019 single ‘挡一根’ temporarily sat at the top of the charts on major music streaming platforms. Most notably, it gained millions of views on YouTube, which is pretty epic for an independent band of their kind. The group is able to create music that relates to the youth of today – their sound truly belongs to and represents the essence of the 21st century.
Thu Jul 11, 8.30pm; RMB120. B10. See event listing. Tickets.
Fri Jul 12: Panic Worm @ Brown Sugar Jar – Public Live

Summer brings out all of our hidden desires, but lucky for all of you indie fans, Wuhan band Panic Worm is here to fulfill those desires for you. After breaking out in 2018 with the release of the record Elusive Magic, the group is back with another fantastic release in new track ‘New Medium.’ Panic Worm is a band that strives to produce a uniquely cultish, post-punk aesthetic. Their songs give off the vibe of romantic sadness, presenting this emotion in the form of rigid, seemingly serious yet outlandish compositions. Panic Worm’s live shows are a must-see for music geeks who enjoy things that are weird and unconventional.
Fri Jul 12, 8.30pm; RMB80 presale, RMB100 door. Brown Sugar Jar – Public Live. See event listing. Tickets.
Fri, Jul 12: Turmoil Presents LSDXOXO @ Oil
Image via 247 Tickets
LSDXOXO is a rare artist in the current electronic music landscape, having built a fervid following while making music entirely on his own terms. Although he’s been putting productions out under the name since 2014, this year’s ‘Body Mods’ introduced an urgent brand of mutant Baltimore club music which, although inspired by the genre, comes off as anything but pastiche.
Fri Jul 12, 10.30pm; RMB70-100. Oil. See event listing. Tickets.
