Rain, Rain and More Rain for Guangzhou and Shenzhen

This week is expected to be another wet one for folks in Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

According to a Weibo post by the Guangzhou Weather Bureau, Canton dwellers can expect heavy rains until Friday, with thunderstorms forecasted on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week (good luck drying your clothes this week). On the bright side (figuratively speaking), much of the precipitation is expected to hit during the early hours on Tuesday and Wednesday while most of the city will be in a deep slumber. Thursday, however, is likely to bring persistent rain from breakfast to dinner, accompanied by severe thunderstorms.

In Shenzhen, the weather bureau has reported slightly better news, with rain expected throughout the week but only one day of thunderstorms is expected, coming on Wednesday. The bureau is still encouraging all residents to take caution outside.

Temperatures in Guangzhou are expected to range from 24 to 28 degrees Celsius while Shenzhen will have a low of 24 degrees and high of 29 degrees for the week.

Weather in Guangdong is in a considerably better position than its western neighbor Guangxi, which has been hit hard by torrential rain in recent days. So far, three people have perished from lightning strikes and others are missing as a result of severe flooding.
