Thick clouds of black smoke were seen billowing from the seaside structure while over 10 fire trucks have already arrived on the scene to control the flames.
One local restaurant owner in the area told That’s at around 11.20am he saw fire trucks arriving on the scene. When asked about the thick smoke in the area, he told us the smell of burnt plastic is “very strong down in that area and you can even smell it over in the Xi You Ji (Journey West) complex.” The fire-damaged building is located next to a gas station, as well as the Dongjiaotou Metro Station, a women’s and children’s hospital and several residential buildings.
